Fort Smith Frontage Levy Calculator

A frontage levy is a way for the water department to charge more for pipe access and less for water consumption. This calculator estimates how a possible frontage levy may affect your monthly water bill. It is not official and was not developed by anyone affiliated with City of Fort Smith. Actual rate changes would require staff analysis and board approval. For educational purposes only.
Important: Fort Smith utility bills also include sewer and solid waste. This calculator estimates changes to the water portion only.

How to find your frontage

Your frontage is the width of your property along the street.

Option 1 — Use Google Maps (mobile)

  1. Open Google Maps
  2. Zoom to your house
  3. Press and hold on one corner of your property along the street until a red pin appears.
  4. Tap the pin information panel at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Tap Measure distance
  6. Move the map until the crosshair reaches the other corner of your property along the street.

The distance shown is your frontage in feet.

Option 2 — Use Arkansas property records

You can also look up your parcel information at:

Arkansas County Data Property Records

Search for your property and look for the parcel dimensions or lot width.

The unbaridged slide-deck of my water billing system based on consumption of fixed assets vs. water. The reasoning being: the water department's costs are based on fixed replacement costs and not water.
